About

Birch Hill Chinooks started in the fall of 1997 when we had a litter of Chinook puppies in Fairbanks, Alaska. They were a total of 7 puppies – 5 boys and 2 girls.

We came up name of Birch Hill Chinooks is that there were a lot of Birch trees in Fairbanks and lot of hills too. Plus, there is an area of Fairbanks, Ak (Explore Fairbanks site – opens in a new window) that has a Ski & Recreation area that have Birch Hill in their names. That is how we partly got the name for this litter.

We kept two puppies – Grayling (a boy) and Talkeetna (a girl) from the litter. Then some time later the second girl got re-homed with us. At one point we had 10 dogs but with age the number of dogs became smaller to the point where we had 3 dogs. Our last dog died in March 2012 who was 14 1/2 years of age and was from this litter.

In September of the same year we took in Rogue as re-homed Chinook. In April of 2013, we helped another Chinook owner and gave a temporary home to Lolo (pictured in the header and below) for a few months. She went back to owner for some time while we kept Rogue. Now we have her again for the rest of her life.

You can find photo’s of our dogs that had passed away here and here.
